Underwater Acoustics

Subacoustech has over 25 years experience in the field of underwater acoustics and has undertaken research and consultancy projects for the former Defence Evaluation and Research Agency (DERA), who are now DSTL and QinetiQ.

We are constantly carrying out environmental and engineering research into the effect of underwater noise whilst also gaining immense knowledge from being out in the field by fulfilling our consultancy projects for clients such as Texaco, BP, Exxon, Rockfall, United Marine Dredging etc and to government and non-government organisations such as the Environment Agency and OKOOA.

We are improving and validating predictive models of the propagation and effect of underwater noise using our in-house software by comparing predicted noise levels to acoustic data recorded during windfarm construction operations. Using this data, we have built a reliable model for predicting noise propagation over shallow and deep water regions. For a full description of our capabilities, see the measurement systems page.
