Subacoustech has recently completed a 3 year project funded by DEFRA in conjunction with Loughine Ltd, Newcastle University and Hull University. As a result of this work, Tony Hawkins of Loughine Ltd, Louise Roberts of Hull University and Samuel Cheesman of Subacoustech Environmental Ltd have published a paper in the Journal of the Acoustical Society of America.
The paper details an experiment carried out in Lough Hyne in Ireland. It involved playing back piling sounds to fish using underwater speakers manufactured by Subacoustech Environmental Ltd, to see what level would cause the fish to avoid the sound.
