The purpose of baseline monitoring is required as part of the impact assessment to establish the existing conditions prior to the commencement of development.
Whilst this may seem a reasonably trivial task, it is important that it is planned and executed effectively to ensure that the full value can be derived from the results and findings. We understand that the baseline noise study is not a stand-alone survey but is an integral part of a series of studies that will be undertaken over the course of the development.
The process illustrated below shows how the baseline noise study will be used as the comparison for all further work and for this reason we design the study with this in mind.
It is not usually practicable to assess the noise environment under all possible conditions, we therefore aim to undertake baseline noise surveys in conditions that are most easily repeated to enable future comparisons.
