Instrumentation, Pre-emphasis & Signal ProcessingSubacoustech is constantly in the process of developing superior instrumentation and recording capabilities, to match the varied and technically challenging work that we undertake. Subacoustech provides instrumentation and analysis to national and international standards. All data is analysed, quality assured, archived and retained in a retrievable form. We have over 10 years of experience designing data acquisition, analysis and control systems using Labview, MATLAB, C and .Net; and over 12 years experience in the design and manufacture of software programmable signal conditioning equipment.
The image above illustrates our broadband acoustic data recording and analysis system. It is capable of acquiring multi-channel data over the frequency range 1 Hz - 250 kHz. Once acquired, data can be processed in any number of ways, including dBht weighting, spectral density analysis, sound exposure and Leq integration, etc.
The dynamic range of modern electronics is insufficient to cover the range of levels encountered in an underwater environment. To combat this, Subacoustech integrates spectral pre-emphasis as standard in our amplifiers, to increase the signal to noise ratio of the acquired data by as much as 40 dB. Subacoustech has many years experience in the design of signal processing and control systems. Acoustic imaging is one area in which we have particular expertise, borne from research into active and passive SONAR systems and acoustic daylight for defence organisations. The plot on the right shows an example of a company funded research project concerning airborne acoustic imaging (SOUNDAR). The image shows a passing car detected by the system. |
