Development

The company is committed to innovative product development, not only for its customers, but also internally. The company achieved DTI SMART awards in 1993, 1994, 1997 and 1999. It was awarded the prestigious DTI Foresight Award (for ground breaking technology) in 1998.

Its work on the use of sound to guide fish and prevent fishkill at power stations has lead to the formation of Fish Guidance Systems Ltd who are now marketing the technology under license worldwide, and are the smallest company ever to have received the Queen's Award for Innovation (2001).

Fish Guidance Systems

FGS produces underwater acoustic systems to deflect or guide fish away from water intakes, such as in power stations, refineries, and off take for drinking water.

Subacoustech Diver Helmet Noise

People working underwater are often exposed to high levels of sound, particularly those in the construction and oil and gas industries. Subacoustech have therefore developed a package that is able to measure and assess noise exposure in these environments to ensure the safety of professional divers.

PAM System

Subacoustech have designed a PAM (Passive Acoustic Monitoring) system, used to detect for the presence of whales and dolphins around potentially harmful offshore constructions. The system uses sonar to monitor for vocalisations or echolocation signals, and when they are detected the software displays the signal, the species detected and the distance from the monitoring vessel.

Instrumentation, Processing & Pre-emphasis

Subacoustech is constantly developing instrumentation for requriements created whilst working at the forefront of science in underwater acoustics. We have bespoke systems capable of measuring and recording broadband signals from 1 Hz - 250 kHz, with pre-emphasis utilised as standard to improve the dynamic range.
